Boat Bar ~ Thessaloniki, Greece

Hello fellow Globetrotters!

This week I want to show you one of my favorite things about the Greek city Thessaloniki.
The city has lots and lots of different Bars and Cafés to offer, but have you ever been on a “Boat Bar”?
One thing you know about me, if you have been following us for a bit, is that I love the seaside and especially being on a boat.
So if you ask me, this is one of the best inventions ever. And it is also a good opportunity to get a different view on the city itself.

There are three boats that leave at the foot of the White Tower. All the three of them take a trip for about half an hour around the waterside area, so you get a good view across the city.
Most of them play ethnic and alternative foreign music and the best thing is, that just like in every other bar you don’t need to pay for the entry (or the trip itself), all you need to do is buy a drink. It could occur that the prices are a bit higher than on the land.

You even get quite a good view on the port and the cormorants that are setteled almost always on there.

I would especially recommend doing a trip in the evening time but remember to dress appropriately, it is colder on the sea than it is on the shore. A mistake we made, it was bloody cold compared to the rest of the day. But in general for it being autumn time we had so much luck with the wheater, most of time you could walk around without a jacket on.
What I loved to do is take a book with me and read while “cruising” across the water, if something like this excisted in my hometown I would probably do it quite often.

I would really like to know what your favorite bar or Café is, anywhere in the world.
And if you would like to see more about Thessaloniki, check out Seaside , City Impressions and watch out for future post. Next week I will show you a bit of the local market.
Have a nice day and don’t forget to explore!
