Sunshine Blogger Award

Hello fellow Globetrotters,

We were so excited, when we learned that the lovely Vanessa from Wanderlustplusone ,who blogs about her adventures and travelling with her kids in general, nominated us for the “Sunshine Blogger Award” and so we want to thank her especially for being so kind and choosing us as one of her nominees.
To inspire other people is and was one of the main reasons we even started this blog and we are gladly a bit of sunshine in this world that often lacks of sunshine.
You should definitely check out her blog and the blogpost where she answered the question given to her.

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

The Sunshine Blogger Award, is given out by bloggers to fellow bloggers who blog about positive, happy and inspiring content.
As we said, especially in today’s world, where hate and war still have the upper hand in a lot of lives, it is important that one tries to inspire others and leave a positive note in this world.
Even if that sometimes includes the not so sunny truth.

If our nominees want to accept the award, please read and follow the rules of the award as below:
-Thank the person who nominated you in the blog post and link back to their blog
-Answer the eleven questions sent by the person who nominated you
-Nominate eleven blogs to receive the award and write them eleven new questions
-List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or your blog

Vanessa’s questions for us

Where would you most like to drink a cup of tea or coffee?
Although this is the first question, in the writing process, I already answered most of the other questions, but I find it really hard to find an answer to this particular question. And my answer seems to change every second.
But right now as in Germany the weather seems to be stuck between not really cold but also not really warm and everything is really stressful with school, I would like to be sitting outside somewhere drinking a cup of tea.
Right now I am sitting at my desk with a cup of tea at hand looking out in a grey world but I know that there will be times I will be able to sit somewhere else.
Sitting somewhere, looking over a beautiful scenery and knowing that right now I can just focus on this cup of tea and maybe the fact that later on I can explore the area, but there isn’t really anything that I need to worry about.
So at the moment, I am pretty much open to any place I can sit outside and just let my mind wander.

Which island would you most like to be stranded on?
I am so bad at answering question dead on, again I can’t find any particular island that I think of.
Or maybe I will go for Iceland, as I always wanted to explore the beautiful landscape and get to know more of it.
One of the favorite islands I have been on is the German island Juist, which I already blogged about on here.
But basically any island, I can just wander around on and experience the beauty of nature is fine with me. Do you have a direct answer to this?

Swimsuit, hiking boots or ski suit?
This is definitely the easiest one for me to answer. And my answer is straight up – hiking boots.
I have never been skiing, so I don’t really now if it is something for me, but it was never something I was too excited about.
On the other hand, don’t understand me wrong, I love the beach, but it probably speaks for itself that I rather take long walks along the ocean than actually going for a swim or especially laying in the sun for hours.
Once in a while I really enjoy a vacation at the beach, you just stay there and all you do is lay in the sun or go for a swim, but I couldn’t do that for very long without doing anything else.
I love to explore new places and if you ask me if I am a city or nature type of person, most of the time I will probably go for nature.
I will never get tired of walking around and finding new exciting things to look at.

What would your preferred hotel style be? Modern, traditional, luxury…?
I never really got the deal out of luxury things, glamour never had an appeal to me. So I definitely wouldn’t go for those options.
I actually don’t really know all different types or styles of hotels, but my preferred style would just be on the homely side, if that makes any sense.
As long as I have a good view and a bed to sleep in I will be comfy.
On a side note, I don’t know if you can put this under hotel style but ever since I have heard that things like this exist, I wanted to stay in a treehouse hotel. So maybe the adventures style?!

What’s and where is your favourite museum?
This one is a hard one to answer, as lately I haven’t really been to any museums, the reason to that isn’t what a lot of people my age would probably say, that I don’t like museums, I actually have always been fascinated with museums.
To be honest, I don’t really have a reason, I haven’t been to any museums lately.
When I was younger, my family and I went quiet frequently to all kinds of museums, but in a way it weren’t really only the pictures or art that fascinated me, but the places itself, and the people that came to look at all the art.
I don’t really remember most of the museums, but I know that I definitely want to return to the van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. And I want to return to the “Städel”- Museum in Frankfurt, Main as I actually spent a lot of my childhood days there.
The last museum I have visited was Louisana near Copenhagen in Denmark, and it was really different to most museums I have been to.
It has an outside and an inside area and everyone can find something for their liking there. So to this point that is my favourite museum.

What are the cities you would most and least like to live in that you have visited?
One of the cities, I would really like to live in is Bristol, when Janet and I were there in the autumn of 2015,  we both fell in love with the uniqueness of the city.
We were both doing a work experience for one week there, and I got the opportunity to do mine at the Tourist Office, and they mostly just sent me out to explore the city, so I actually have to say that I’ve probably even seen more of that city than my actual home town. I definitely wouldn’t mind to get to see even more of that city.
Now, not speaking about the financial term, I really would like to live in Copenhagen for some time (definetely not too long), as I found the atmosphere really interesting and it is such a beautiful city.
But for the question, which city I would least like to live in, I find it really hard to find an answer for.
I am quite sure that I wouldn’t want to live for a long period of time, in a really big and busy city such as Paris or London, but at the same time I would like to try it out.
Because anonymity is something that always had a big appeal to me.

Where was your first flight to?
My first flight ever was from the German island Juist back to the main land with a really small airplane, which only could fit about eight people or so. And the flight only lasted about ten minutes if I remember correctly.
But my actual first proper flight with a bigger airplane was to none other place than Paris.
It was in ninth grade, so I was about fourteen and we were going there for a class trip.
I know that I was a bit scared but at the same time really excited.
And even to this day, I have gained a bit more flight experience by now, also on my own, I can’t decide if I like flying or not.
I was never afraid of the plane crashing of anything, and I like the feeling of looking down at the land and the clouds.
But on the other hand I always get a bit nervous, but that probably also has to do with not being able to leave the situation.

How many countries have you visited?
To this day I have visited around ten countries. So far, I never had a chance to visit a country outside of Europe, so that is something I definitely want to do.
It has always been a dream of mine to travel the world and see many different countries, one of the reasons I always find it so hard to decide which country I want to visit next.

Which language would you like to speak?
So to start this of, my mother language is German. Obliviously I speak a bit of English and in school I learned a bit of French, Spanish and Chinese.
Maybe I would actually go for French.
I have probably, to add all the times together I have been there, I must have spent about a quarter of my live in that country and I can still barley speak the language, although I had a liking in learning it.
Maybe I should pick it up again, when I am through with school.

If you could travel back in time to meet a historical figure, who would it be and why?
Argh, I never liked these kind of questions, as I never had and probably never will have a real answer to this. Who would you choose to meet back in time?
Either, I would travel back in time to meet someone who had a really big impact on the history, probably even someone who is guilty of killing thousands of people, just to try to “understand” the motives behind their actions and be able to spread the word why today we should be more experienced.
Or some kind of “hero”, small or big. In the end we have to realize that everyone is able to change this world.

Are there any places in the world you would not want to visit, and why?
No. There are no places I don’t want to visit.
There are definitely a lot of places I am not keen to visit at the current time, but those reasons are probably quite obvious.
I like to think of myself as someone who likes to try out new things and I am not really fond of limitations.
As a child I always used to say that one day I wanted to see the world.
And that hasn’t changed. But now I just know that that isn’t as easy as I thought it was when I was really young.
But it doesn’t mean I can’t try.

  1. Enjoyed reading your responses! I agree with you on the hotel part: while luxury is a plus, I think a homey hotel with good views is the way to go.

Thanks for the nomination! I’ll be doing it shortly.

    1. You are welcome. I have to admit, I really struggled with that aswell. But I have also seen others who just nominated 5 or so, I don’t think the eleven blogs are that strict to be nominated. 😉
