Weekly Quote 20/52

There are too many books I haven’t read, too many places I haven’t seen, too many memories I haven’t kept long enough.

–Irwin Shaw

Sadly there is no denying that there isn’t enough time. Enough time to do all the things you want to do in your lifetime. And how long even is that? That is what you don’t know.
No matter how old you are right now reading this text; you could be dead tomorrow.
And it isn’t that you should worry all the time that you could die … could and will are two different words. Eventually we will all die. But that is the thing; no matter what you do someday sooner or later death is waiting for you. And that is a good thing.
We all know that feeling of “too many things to do”. But often you spend more time complaining about all the things you still have to do, instead of getting them done for real.
Just by talking no actions will happen.
Although you will never have the chance to read all the books in the world; you can try. Try to read as many as you like. The next time you will find yourself doing again “nothing”, grab a book instead. Scrolling through the Internet is nice but there are other things you could do.
Although you will never have the chance to see the whole world and see all the places; you can at least try. Try to see as many as you like. Most of us contribute exploring; with places far away in the world. And that is great.
But while doing so you forget that there are so many unexplored places right in front of you. Even if you don’t have the money to go really far; you still have the opportunity to experience so many great things and places. You just have to open your eyes. Open up to new things.
Life is short. Keep that in mind. It doesn’t mean that at all times you should be doing something. Running around and keeping yourself busy won’t enlarge your lifetime. It is about a balance.
We all need breaks. We have to recharge at times and sometimes that can only happen if you do “nothing”.  You are not wasting your time.
But from time to time you should try out new things. Seek adventures and let fresh air into your life.
It can be scary to experience new things, meet new people.
But that is all we have; the present. And the future.
The past is only something that exists in our minds, in memories and pictures. But although you will remember certain situations and people, they are all memories. And some time memories will fade and you have no chance of remembering them all.
Your only chance to make up to that is to create new ones.
Now. We spend so much of our time worrying about things we did in the past. Things that can’t be changed anymore. See them as mistakes. Mistakes you can learn from.
Although you can’t change the past; you can change your future. Make the best out of everything. Try to not make the same mistake twice. It is only a real mistake if you don’t learn from it.
The possibilities are endless.

See you soon at our next destination!
